WNIN is changing its focus from being predominantly a broadcaster of national radio and television programming, to being both a broadcaster and an active partner with local institutions and individuals dedicated to making the Tri-State a better place to live. Pillars in the Community WNIN hereby resolves to use its strengths as a communications hub, a convener of people and ideas, and a producer of audio and video to help Tri-State people and institutions do their jobs more efficiently and effectively. WNIN will continue to broadcast national programming on television and radio because it represents an indispensable community asset, and your support of those services represents and will continue to represent a significant percent of WNIN's 2007 operating budget.
WNIN will, however, direct all of its discretionary funds and seek additional funds to support expanded broadcast and non-broadcast activities in each of what we are calling our community "pillars": Education, Health, Government, Arts and Culture, and Business. In the future, before undertaking any activity, WNIN will have to answer one key question: How does this activity make the Tri-State better educated, healthier or economically stronger?
