Position: Community Engagement Intern

Division: Development Department

Reports to: Community Engagement Associate

Classification: Internship

 

Summary:

WNIN is seeking a qualified intern to assist our Community Engagement Associate with marketing research, social media marketing and community events.

This intern should be skilled at finding creative and effective solutions to problems, should be sufficiently motivated and ambitious to produce good work independently, and will walk away from the internship with a well-rounded experiential education in the promotion of public media.

This internship period begins May 2015 and ends in August 2015. The intern is expected to work at least 15 hours per week during normal business hours (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and occasionally be available on weekends for community events.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in collection of market research data
  • Assist with community engagement projects/events
  • Assist with station fundraising efforts, including grant research and fulfillment
  • Explore common problems experienced by public media stations and help seek creative marketing and advertising/PR solutions
  • Support social media marketing efforts
  • Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience in data collection/analysis; familiarity with Google Analytics
  • Graphic and/or web design skills
  • Photography skills
  • Physical requirements include occasional lifting/carrying
  • Valid driver’s license

  • Ability to approach problems with solutions that are both creative and practical
  • Ability to interact with members of the community and reflect positively on the station
  • Ability to meet work schedules, learn quickly and work independently
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Skilled in utilizing a personal computer and associated software programs
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional relationships with co-workers, supervisors and the general public
  • Valid driver’s license
