WNIN is proud to announce former NPR host Robert Siegel as the featured speaker for WNIN’s 18th Annual Gala.  Mr. Siegel recently retired from NPR after working in radio for more than 40 years.  During the last thirty years, he was the senior host of the country's most-listened-to, afternoon-drive-time news radio program All Things Considered and reported on stories and happenings all over the globe.

Siegel began his career in radio at Columbia University's radio station, WKCR-FM. As a student he anchored coverage of the 1968 Columbia demonstrations and contributed to the work that earned the station an award from the Writers Guild of America East.  He proceeded to earn additional acknowledgement throughout his professional career including the John Chancellor Award from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, three Silver Batons from Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University, the American Bar Association's Silver Gavel Award, and the National Mental Health Association's Mental Health Award.  Robert signed off from All Things Considered for the last time on January 5, 2018.

“We are honored someone with such a long resume of dedicated service to public media and distinguished accomplishments has chosen to join us for the upcoming gala,” says WNIN’s Director of Events Natalie Wade.  “Robert truly embodies the spirit of journalism and couldn’t be a better fit for what our event celebrates.”

The public is invited to join WNIN on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Evansville, for a fun, insightful evening supporting public broadcasting and hearing wonderful stories about Siegel’s adventures in journalism.  Tickets will be available October 1, 2018, at or by calling (812)423-2973.
