A Salute to the Bluegrass State

A River that Divides - A Bridge that Brings Us Together

WNIN Public Radio and Television is the story teller and conduit that connects Southern Indiana and Western Kentucky to the diverse history of its people, its neighborhoods and the architecture, personality, ingenuity and spirit of the places we call home.

Current productions include Indiana’s Bicentennial Celebration, a timely series of vignettes that coincide with the celebration of Indiana’s 200th anniversary of statehood.

Growing & Thriving in Warrick County, WNIN’s newest documentary to be released Fall of 2016, highlights attractions and seasonal events that embody the character of Warrick County.

With these local strides in mind and WNIN’s commitment to moving forward, it is with great excitement that we announce our newest local initiative: A Salute to the Bluegrass State.

Beginning in 2017, WNIN will use this initiative to ignite a year-long celebration of Kentucky’s history, culture, and its 225 years of statehood.

A Salute to the Bluegrass State will be a global exposure initiative for WNIN that extends to TV 9.1, 88.3 FM, WNIN events, and community engagement.

•WNIN TV will broadcast a series of vignettes celebrating Kentucky’s 225th anniversary with announcements and educational shorts about Kentucky’s state bird, flower, and other interesting facts.

•WNIN FM will engage with concert goers and broadcast live recordings at the annual ROMP and W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue festivals.

•WNIN will also select a Kentucky-based location for the WNIN Day Out program, which features community interviews and outreach on-air.

•WNIN Events will be hosting its annual Kids Fest in both Evansville and Owensboro in 2017, two events in which thousands of children and their families are in attendance. Each WNIN Kids Fest is a free, family-friendly event that engages children in fun and educational activities while connecting parents with the local companies that show support for childhood education, health, and success. WNIN will ring in 2017 with an entire year of engagement between the station and Kentucky-based corporations and organizations.
