With the school year approaching, you may be asking yourself what you need to do to prepare your child for the upcoming year. On this page you can find information to help prepare you, as well as your child, for the new school year.
Immunization
Required by Indiana State Law, immunization is important to keep in mind. Upon enrollment in an EVSC school, the parent/guardian must be able to show proof of the child's immunization, or they must have on file a religious or medical exemption. After the first day of school, a child may not be permitted to attend school without furnishing written proof, or requesting a waiver.
Physical Examination
It is required of a first time student to provide written documentation of a physical examination by a physician or nurse practitioner. You must also provide this information for entrance into kindergarten, sixth grade, and ninth grade. It is recommended that a student also have a test for tuberculosis.
Dress Codes
Dress Codes are an important thing to understand. Each school individually has their own code, and it is important to understand what your child can and cannot wear on a daily basis. Appropriate dress and personal grooming are required of each student. Clothing and grooming habits should not be distracting to other students, and should not detract from good teaching/learning situation. Body piercing, minus the ears, is not allowed in elementary and middle schools. If your child is in violation of the dress code, they will be asked to correct the violation prior to returning to the classroom. They could also face disciplinary action.
