In the records provided by the Evansville Police Department for the year 2009 year, Evansville Police dealt with the reports of: four cases of homicide, zero cases of manslaughter , fifty-eight cases of rape, five cases of attempted rapes, 118 cases of reported robberies, 269 cases of aggravated assault's, 945 cases of burglaries, 140 cases of attempted burglaries, 4,156 cases of larceny, 257 cases of reported auto thefts, and ninety-four cases of arson's.
As for the number of cases cleared, the Evansville Police Department reports that they were able to clear three homicides, forty-one rapes, two attempted rapes, sixty-eight robberies, 211 aggravated assault's, 207 burglaries, twenty-five attempted burglaries, 1,705 larceny cases, ninety-one auto theft's, and forty-five arson cases.
If you look back at the year 2005, you will see a slight decrease in the number of crimes reported. Where 2005 had 6,551 crimes, the year of 2009 had 6,046 crimes reported. What's more, the year of 2005 there were 1,791 cases cleared, while in 2009 there was a significant increase to 2,398 cases cleared.
