Goode to Visit ANWR Print E-mail

Incumbent Democrat Brad Ellsworth and his Republican challenger Greg Goode agree that energy is one of the defining issues in the race for the 8th district congressional seat. But they differ on how to deal with soaring costs. Today (Wednesday), Goode offered policy ideas and announced a fact-finding trip the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Farm Aide Available Print E-mail

State Treasurer Richard Mourdock today announced Indiana will make 50 million dollars available to farmers whose crops were damaged in last months floods. Farmers will be able to use these state funds to leverage federal money to clean up their flood-damaged fields.

Law Struck Down Print E-mail

Yesterday, a federal court struck down a new Indiana law on the day it was to take effect. The law required bookstores and other retailers to pay a registration fee if they want to sell sexually explicit material. As WNIN’s Micah Schweizer found, the fate of House Enrolled Act 1042 isn’t uncommon.

Republican presidential candidate John McCain was in Indianapolis today speaking to the National Sheriffs’ Association and collecting money from a lunchtime fundraiser. As Indiana Public Broadcasting’s Marianne Holland reports, McCain promised more federal support for law enforcement.

Ellsworth Reelection Kick-off Print E-mail

Representative Brad Ellsworth says energy issues will be prominent in this year’s election. The first-term Democrat began his re-election campaign Tuesday with a tour of Indiana’s 8th district, with stops in Greencastle, Vincennes, Terre Haute, and Evansville.
