Post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries are hallmarks of the Iraq War. Earlier this month, Defense Secretary Robert Gates cautiously offered support for offering one of the military’s top honors—the Purple Heart—to veterans who suffer psychological wounds, not just physical ones.
